Every month there’s a charge of $23.95 automatically taken from my bank account. When I’m tight on cash I think, damn that sucks and then I remember what that $23.95 has really done for me.
$23.95 is the amount of my gym membership per month. I probably go to the gym 3-5 times a week, sometimes more, rarely less. My friends and coworkers often give me a hard time about my slight obsession but they don’t know what the gym really does for me, and them.
I go to the gym not just to stay in shape and look pretty, though it’s a perk. I go to be healthy physically and mentally. I go to the gym so I don’t murder my friends and coworkers (who I really do love). I go when my mind is racing and I can’t focus. When I’m too focused and need to relax. When I’m stressed, overworked, overwhelmed, overexcited, anxious. You name it, it means I’m going to the gym.
I’m sure therapy costs way more than $23.95 so I think I’ll stick to my work out plan, no matter how crazy I may seem.
